Pineville, LA – The Alexandria VA Medical Center will hold a Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony on Wednesday, December 7, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the VA Chapel.

On Sunday morning, December 7, 1941, Japanese planes struck the American Naval base at Pearl Harbor. They hit without warning, destroying American ships and airplanes and killing thousands. Pearl Harbor was a test; a test of American’s commitment to man’s freedom from the terror and strife of tyranny – and a reminder that freedom is not free. The community is invited to join the VA in remembering Pearl Harbor and honoring the Veterans of World War II. The ceremony will include recognition of Veterans as well as a presence of representatives from all five branches of the military. Light refreshments will be served immediately following the service.
