An Alexandria teenager is dead after the dirt bike he was riding ran a stop sign Monday and crashed into an SUV… Alexandria Police say the 14-year-old, who was not wearing a helmet, was exceeding a safe speed limit according to witnesses… The accident happened at the corner of 9th and University Streets just after 3 yesterday afternoon… The name of the teen killed was not officially released. The driver of the SUV is not expected to face any charges.

A Pineville woman has been officially charged in an accident that claimed the life of an inmate who was working the side of Highway 28 West last month… 38-year-old Kelly Tuttle has been charged with one count of Vehicle Homicide, one count of First Degree Vehicle Negligent Injury, and one count of Careless Operation of a Vehicle. That after toxicology tests came back – although the results of that test have not been released. Tuttle’s vehicle struck inmate Sylvester Miller who later died from injuries suffered in the accident.

And State police say a Jonesville man was shot and killed while hunting in the Catahoula Wildlife Refuge. 52-year-old Boatner K. Smith, also of Jonesville, was hunting about 5:50 Monday morning when he shot at something moving in the brush. Smith's bullet struck 63-year-old Rod Gordo, who was killed instantly.

Authorities have not arrested Smith, saying the investigation is ongoing.

In Tuesday sports… LSU star cornerback Tyrann Mathieu says his recent one-game suspension for violating the team's drug policy has given him a new appreciation for the responsibility he has to his teammates. Mathieu says the media attention he received early in the season probably caused him to lose proper perspective.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — The LSU Lady Tigers are off to a 1-0 start. Jeanne Kenney scored 16 points on Monday to lead them to a 64-56 win over Wichita State in Nikki Caldwell's coaching debut with LSU. LaSondra Barrett also had 16 for the Lady Tigers.
