June is National Frozen Yogurt Month and Lifeshare Blood Centers is partnering with local frozen yogurt shops for their 1st Annual “Pint for a Pint” summer event. The Lifeshare bus will be at an area FROYO shop each Saturday in June from 6 to 9 p.m.

Saturday, June 30th at Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt on the Monroe Highway in Pineville across from Proctor & Gamble.

Donors receive a free cup of yogurt and the shop with the most donors will receive a gift package for a lucky patron!

You’re invited to “A Warrior To Wildcat Event”…Saturday, June 30th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall in the Weathersby Fine Arts Building on the Louisiana College campus in Pineville. “Ride For the Heroes! Let ‘Em Hear Ya Comin!” The Louisiana Air National Guard 122 Air Support Operations Squadron and Brother’s Keepers Motorcycle Club are teaming up to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Join the fun Saturday, June 30th at American Legoin Post 145 at 304 East North Street in Leesville. All bikers and the general public are welcome. There will be a 122 mile Poke Run, a Bike Show, Bike Wash, Bike Games, live auction, live entertainment and more. The “Patriot Tour” makes its way through Central Louisiana Sunday, July 8th. Every year, the Nation of Patriots organizes a national effort that pays tribute to and honors all of America’s Armed Forces – Past, Present & Fallen. The “Patriot Tour” shows America’s support, thanks and united pride by passing one American Flag throughout the country. Join the ride from Renegade Harley-Davidson to Blue Bayou Harley-Davidson in Monroe. Sign in at 8 a.m. with Kickstands Up at 8:30. The ride is open to all makes & models and donations can be made day of the ride. All proceeds benefit the Nation of Patriots in support of our Veterans.

The Good Food Project at the Food Bank of Central Louisiana has scheduled several gardening classes for the Summer. The classes will be taught by GFP director Lori Garton at the Food Bank at 3223 Baldwin Avenue in Alexandria, behind Sam’s Club. Classes are:

Herbs in the Garden – Saturday, June 16th

Composting – Friday, June 22nd

Vermiculture – Friday, July 6th

Organic Pest Control – Friday, July 20th

Edible Weeds – Saturday, July 28th

All classes are at 9 a.m. Due to limited space, all participants must register in advance by calling 445-2773.

“Charity Miles” is a new iPhone and Android app that enables people to earn money for charity while walking, running or biking. The app allows you to earn money for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana through the Feeding America network. “Charity Miles” is now available to download for free in the iPhone and Android. Every time you drive… look for Motorcycles! At intersections… “Look Twice & Save A Life!” Most motorcycle collisions with other vehicles occur at or near intersections. Most of these collisions are the result of the motorist violating the motorcyclist right-of-way. Many of these collisions occur when a motorist pulls across the path of, or turns into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. Please…. “Look Twice & Save A Life!”
